Mayo Tower Replacement

Scope: 168 Stub Angle Foundations and 12 Temporary Back Guy Foundations
Location: Person County, NC
Client: Irby Construction

This project presented several challenges, as foundations had to be installed with the line energized and a limited right-of-way required dead-end towers to be built within the same footprint as existing structures. Additionally, the team faced limited concrete availability in the area and significant elevation changes at many tower locations.

To meet these challenges, Legend utilized low-clearance equipment to safely install the foundations. For the dead-end towers, the team installed temporary poles to support the wire while Irby Construction removed the existing towers, allowing new foundations to be placed efficiently and safely. To address the concrete shortage, Legend partnered with a local supplier and hired additional truck drivers to ensure steady concrete delivery and maintain production.

The customer was very pleased with the results and commended Legend and Irby for their strong coordination, problem-solving, and teamwork throughout the project.
